Long time 4-H member Janet Taylor presents Friend of 4-H award to Co-op GM David Crowell
Pincher Creek Co-op and staff has been chosen as the 2014 Friend of 4-H by the Pincher Creek and District 4-H Council. "Coop actually was nominated by two clubs this year," explained 4-H Club Volunteer Joyce Taylor. She said she wanted there to be recognition for the many things that Pincher Creek Co-op does for local 4-H Clubs.
She explained that some of the reasons presented by the clubs as to why they believe the Co-op, board and its staff deserves this award were: purchases at least two market animals every year at achievement day sales, offers 4-H member discounts on animal care and tack supplies, and supportive staff members. The Co-op has periodic fund raising opportunities for 4-H clubs, assists with local achievement days by supplying small animal panelling, and supports learning opportunities. Taylor also mentioned that the Co-op donated space to 4-H when it was available, and hosts the 4-H trophy display case in the Ranchland Mall. "That is just to mention a few," she said.
Staff at Co-op were very casual this Friday, November 28, with many of the staff in all departments wearing their favorite sports jersey. There is approximately 90 people who work in Pincher Creek Co-operative Association, and each one that wore a jersey paid $2.00 to support KidSport. "We did it because it is Grey Cup week, and it is always good to support the kids," said General Manager David Crowell. KidSport helps kids that have a financial barrier to be able to play sports.
